Entering Sociology Major/Minor

Sociology Major Requirements

The requirements for entering the Sociology Major for a student already at Texas A&M are as follows:

1) You must have a 2.0 overall GPA or higher.
2) You must have a 2.0 GPA in sociology courses or higher.
3) You must not have completed more than 95 hours.

There are ABSOLUTELY NO exceptions to this policy.

Sociology Minor Requirements

Students wishing to diversify their educational experience, enrich their coursework or prepare themselves appropriately for the labor market have a substantial number of attractive options other than the sociology minor. The sociology advisors are happy to explore those options with students. The requirements for entering the sociology minor for a student already at Texas A&M are as follows:

1) You must have a 2.0 overall GPA or higher.
2) You must have a 2.0 GPA in sociology courses or higher.
3) You must not have completed more than 95 hours.

Exceptions CAN be made the 95 hour rule for students whose coursework suggests having made substantial progress towards the completion of the minor.

Sociology is one of the few departments at Texas A & M which handles all entries into their minor themselves. See a sociology advisor if you wish to obtain a sociology minor.
