Undergraduate Research Fellowships

The Sociology Department's Undergraduate Research Fellows Program provides opportunities for advanced training and research experiences for interested and highly capable students. Students selected for Research Fellowships are given the opportunity to earn money while working one-on-one with a Texas A&M Sociology Professor on high-level research.

Admission to the Program is competitive. The program is only open to Sociology Majors who have completed Sociology 220 with a grade of B or higher. Candidates for Fellowships must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0. It is expected that the GPA of students actually selected for fellowships will be higher than this minimum.

Sociology Undergraduate Research Fellows will work ten hours a week for ten weeks with a TAMU professor and will receive remuneration for their time. The research training provided will be pedagogical in nature with an orientation for preparing the student for being able to do professional sociological research on their own. In some cases, co-authorship of a publication with a professor may be possible.

Fellowships are potentially renewable so long as the Fellow remains an undergraduate sociology major at Texas A&M and funds are available.

To apply for admission to this program, obtain an application from a Sociology undergraduate advisor, the Sociology Career advisor, the Sociology Department Office, or online. They should be hand-delivered or mailed to:
